The LIJ Interventional Radiology Division is a hospital based, academic affiliated (AECOM) practice with three fellowship trained Interventional Radiology Attendings. The division performs all interventional radiology procedures, which include angiography (selective and subselective), angioplasty and vascular stent placement, embolotherapy, thrombolysis, IVC filter placement, biliary and urinary tract drainage and stent procedures, percutaneous abscess drainage, percutaneous fine needle and core biopsies, tumor ablation, TIPSS, hepatic artery chemoembolization, and evaluation and treatment of vascular malformations. Additionally, CT and MR evaluation of vascular diseases (including the use of MR angiography and CT angiography) is performed by the division.
Other features of the LIJ Interventional Radiology Division include:
- A thriving outpatient practice, in the safe surroundings of a tertiary care hospital.
- A close working relationship with the sub-specialists in all disciplines of medicine.
- A large Uterine Fibroid Embolization practice working in collaboration with the OB/GYNs at the Medical Center.
- A busy vascular practice, including angioplasty and stenting. Stent-graphs are performed in cooperation with the LIJ vascular surgeons.
- A large CT Angiography and MR Angiography practice for the non-invasive evaluation of vascular diseases.
- High volume and considerable expertise in all areas of embolization, biliary work, GU tract work, varicocele embolization, fallopian tube recanalization, venous access, IVC filter placement and percutaneous biopsy and drainage.
- Experience in some of the more esoteric procedures including the treatment of arteriovenous malformations, hepatic tumor therapy and the treatment of portal hypertension.
- Two fully equipped angio suites, including an OR ready Rotational Angiography Unit. Many of the interventions are also guided with use of CT scan or ultrasound.
- An ACGME approved fellowship training program.
The faculty of the Vascular /Interventional Radiology Division are also on the staff of the LIJ Vascular Institute within the Department of Surgery. |
